Learning Disability Courses


As a young person with autism (or a learning disability) develops they need new challenges. Raising Horizons have developed interactive elearning courses, available as a download, to support their developmental needs as they progress.

Our elearning courses equips young people with the personal skills they need to develop through their lives. The courses have portability, usability, adaptability and are person-centered. They have  been designed to be used in conjunction with a Coach e.g. teacher, parent or carer. The Coach should work closely with the student and discuss each lesson with them.

The target user age of this course is 5-10 years old and takes them through the school day - ranging from getting ready for school, travelling to school, recognising faces, working with others and interactive Games.

This interactive course offers 60+ situational learning topics, designed to be used with the support of a tutor, whether that is a teacher, parent, carer, friend or sibling. The course is based on the concept that "It’s never too early to start". This course helps parents support their children in developing social skills.

Life is full of journeys but we are never fully prepared to make them!

Created with this in mind, Travel with Me is an interactive course that takes the user through a variety of stages designed to prepare them for any journey by bus, train, plane or car. This interactive course will give teenagers a variety of situational strategies designed to help them to recognise and acknowledge their emotions and to create friendships. Sign with Me is a new approach to teaching British Sign Language. Designed for use by members of the hearing community, Sign with Me uses a series of 57 video clips to show the learner exactly how key words and phrases can be used to communicate with deaf people.

Created for use by personnel including receptionists, doctors, nurses, waiters, waitresses, retail and travel staff, Sign with Me aims to break through the barriers often created through misunderstanding between the deaf and hearing communities.
